reunited with my Costa Rican friend over seafood








Tonight I reunited with my Costa Rican travel friend in Amman, and had dinner in the famous Sara Seafood Restaurant. We met in Slovenia in 2015, and she decided to visit Jordan 2 days ago using her airline work perks and saw my Jordanian posts On FB. We shared with her our traveling experience in Petra and Wadi Rum, and  encouragement of traveling via coronavirus. BTW, the seafood we ordered (seafood with vege bucket, curry seafood, salmon steak with vege, and fish stuffed with vege) looked and tasted delicious.

Egypt 埃及 -  Jordan 約旦   I booked my flight into Lebanon in late February 2020, and had been monitoring the regional safety. The protests since October 2019 continues in Lebanon, but life continues there as well.  The outbreak of  coronavirus caused Beirut  Hostel cancelled my reservation,   so I took advantage of American Airlines ' free cancellation flights via Hong Kong offer and  re-booked  flights into Egypt. Basically, I reversed my travel direction from hot areas into colder areas and skipped  Lebanon. The Israeli lockdown triggered a domino effect, so I cut short my tep and came back to USA. Wadi Rum Desert

We took a minibus from Aqaba to highway junction then a taxi to the village of Wadi Rum in a hope to make camp reservation on the spot, but were forced to book online at the visitor center so to get into this scenic desert valley under conservation. A wadi is a dry river bed. T E Lawrence (of Arabia) spent a significant amount of time here during the course of the British-inspired Arab Revolt against the Ottoman Empire during the First World War (1914-1918). The cheapest camp actually offers higher tour prices so we paid a little more then the lowest price: 48 JOD ($68) per person covering 4-hr safari tour, a traditional dinner of Bedouin nomads (chicken and vegetables cooked under the desser sand, “zarb”), an enclosed permanent tent, and breakfast.
