Resting in Aswan

It is a zero day for me to sleep in, take breakfast slowly, and stroll  along the Kornish Al Nile (Corniche).  The views of the Nile River from the breakfast restaurant on the top of the hotel were great. I rested in the breakfast restaurant again after the hot market walk. It was very relaxing to stay away the touts and enjoyed the river views. My trip to Egypt so far was more of a challenge than pleasure.












I decide to skip the popular 2-3 night Cruise/felucca to Luxor to cover less significant temples, but going straight to Luxor by train in the afternoon for two major temples. After a while, the temples look alike.

Enjoying Qatar Airlines free on board WiFi. Feel like a VIP, although feeling blood bleeding when seeing the Dow index tanking... The dinner was chicken rice with white wine. Live post from the sky. Qatar services are the best so far as I have experienced with different airlines. Their planes are new and spacious, and they treat economy customers as good as other airlines business class except the seat size. The fly attendant came back after meal service with champion I requested plus snacks. One friend later told me that Qatar Airways treatment of their employees is absolutely horrid, verging on human rights violations. I didn’t know then.  Even if I knew, I would have to fly with Qatar because “I just want to go home” quoted from movie Jumanji. BTW, it costed me only 40,000 American Airlines frequent flyer miles plus $100 to fly from Amman to IAD.

Train ride to Aswan

I survived a 15-hr train ride from Cairo 8 am to Aswan 11 pm, then walked 15-min to hotel, bought my breakfast for 4 am tour to Abu Simbel, and now waiting in lobby for 3.5 hrs for the tour. I rested enough on the train ride, which had AC and power outlet. My seat is in the middle of train section away from the doors at both ends, but could still smell some 2nd hand smoke from time to time. Otherwise, nothing to complaint about the train ride, which was better than the ones I had in India. I used my own data package connection to book the tour during the train ride. The ride was mostly along a canal that is next to the Nile River which cannot be seen from the train. Most foreigners fly or take expensive overnight sleeping train, but I decided to see the views along the ride and successfully bought the ticket counter located on platform 11 at Cairo main train station. The trick was to have local write the ticket info on a piece of paper so non-English speak...

2nd raining day in Amman

It was another raining day so we had breakfast at the Jordanian Royal family favorite Hashim restaurant for the third time, and then killed time in the City Mall. The mail still had plenty of tissue paper for sale. Unknown to us, a county lockdown snowball is coming to us.
