Wadi Musa near Petra

On the first day, we shared one taxi with two French travelers from Wadi Rum to Petra, walked around town, checked in the Petra Capsule Hostel (window city view), enjoyed the sunset view from a rooftop restaurant, had roast chicken for dinner, and bought fig bread for next day breakfast and lunch from a popular bakery.

On the second day, we enjoyed the traditional meals after a long day in Petra site. Jordanian cuisine is quite similar to fare served elsewhere in the region, except the national dish of Jordan: mansaf, a platter layered with crêpe-like traditional "shraak" bread, mounds of glistening rice and chunks of lamb that have been cooked in a unique sauce made from reconstituted jameed and spices, sprinkled with golden pine nuts or almonds.

We also tried another local dish tonight: maqluba with chicken on top of spiced rice cooked together in one pot.
