Last group dinner in Amman
Everything went sour after one of my travelmates got an email flight cancellation notice in the late afternoon due to cypress authority closing borders. She was forced to book a $1,000 flight to fly out next day at 3 am, and then changed her transfer from Doha to Dubai due to Qatar lockdown. We three had the last dinner together then we sent her on a taxi to the airport. I finished the whole grilled fish.
I woke up around 3 am and checked if she got on her fight, then I learned that the Jordanian borders will be close on Tuesday 3/17. I woke up the other travelmate whose flights occur after 3/17 and then he booked flights to get out which didn’t work so he rebooked even more expensive flights and camped in the airport with me tonight.
Although my fights are on time and not canceled, I decided to go to the airport one day earlier the standby, since I cannot call via Qatar airlines. We took a shared taxi (1 JD) and the airport shuttle (3.3 JD) to the airport.
Unfortunately, the Qatar airlines counter cannot change reservations, and I cannot call via their customer service lines and change online since I used American Airlines frequent flyer miles. Fortunately, a locate contact made a call via local Qatar Airlines office, and confirmed that all earlier flights are sold out and I am going to camp in this airport for 36 hours, watching people anxiously trying to get out of Jordan.
