Cross border to Jordan
After enjoying a big breakfast at this Hilton related resort, we played pool then walked to the port. There were only five guests in the resort so we pretty much had the whole place (served by a staff team) to ourselves. This ferry route is used by a lot of Egyptian labors to get to Jordan so the port was full of people and quite chaotic as the Jordanian integration officers shouted the Egyptians around. The Egyptian doctor only checked the body temperature of us three foreigners, and Tracey managed to asked for two N95 face masks for free from the Egyptian doctor for each of us. Fortunately, we were always spotted by the officers and escorted all the way from Nuweiba, Egypt to Aqaba Jordan, except when sitting on the deck after all Egyptians on board and in the cabin of the ferry. One Jordanian officer joked to ask Tracey to marry him. The ferry was delayed and moved at 3 pm then arrived about 5:30 pm, and it took us about 45 minutes to clear the confusing Jordanian customs. We survived the rough trip and aggressive taxi drivers fights over customers, to city center for a hotel and had a big roast chicken dinner. This was only second to the worst border crossing experience I had in Chile when the whole bus was held up 1.5 hrs while the officer trying to figure out the different treatments between Taiwan and China. It took us 2 days to cross this border, which makes me wonder if it would be better off to fly twice via Cairo, or going via the tight time schedule of Israeli border at Tapa. Anyway, we are in Jordan, and people friendly welcome up without asking to buy anything.
